The visit begins outdoors: the grounds, the medieval enclosure, the inner courtyard, and the first views over the Vézère. Depending on visitors’ choice, the tour continues into the Renaissance residence. The furnished rooms, carved fireplaces, and grand staircase speak to the art of living of the families who shaped Losse. The site can be explored independently with an audioguide or on a guided tour of about 45 minutes.
Then comes a leisurely walk through the gardens: shaded paths, trimmed parterres, suspended terraces, and panoramic views over the Vézère. A calm, well-balanced route that highlights the unity of architecture and nature.
Allow around 1 hour 30 minutes to fully enjoy the castle and gardens.

The castle team welcomes visitors, maintains the site, and helps convey the history of the estate. Their work restoring and showcasing the gardens makes Losse an exceptional heritage site.

Overlooking the Vézère, Losse Castle is a Renaissance residence surrounded by medieval ramparts still visible today. The regular facades, the large terrace, and the ornamental garden recreate the refined atmosphere of the noble houses of the Périgord Noir.
The ensemble is completed by gardens awarded the Remarkable Garden label, impeccably maintained, offering open views over the valley and the surrounding woods. It is a harmonious, bright, and remarkably well-preserved place.
