You first enter the courtyard, among stonework, towers, and ancient timber framing, and take in the château’s history at a glance. The tour then leads you into the caves carved into the rock, remnants of the Knights Templar commandery, then into the former outbuildings and the renovated main house, where the furnishings bear witness to past eras.

Owner Family of the Estate
Your host is the owner of Château de la Guionie. For several years, he has overseen the upkeep of the estate, the gradual restoration of the buildings, and the occasional opening of the château to the public.
His approach is simple: to share the history of the place, explaining what makes it unique and enduring. His presence gives the tour a warm, lively character.

Château de la Guionie, set in Lempzours in the heart of Périgord Vert, traces its origins to an old Knights Templar commandery dating from the 12th century. Altered in the 17th and 18th centuries, it now combines medieval remains, including caves carved into the rock, with a more residential architecture typical of Périgord manor houses.
Towers, main house, and agricultural outbuildings, all nestled in a setting of woodland and meadows: the site embodies the discreet and authentic charm of a living rural heritage.
