Founded in the 11th century, Saint-Félix-de-Montceau Abbey is one of the oldest monastic establishments in Languedoc. Placed under the Benedictine rule, it enjoyed a period of prosperity in the Middle Ages before being gradually weakened by wars, religious reforms, and the upheavals of the modern era.

Extensively dismantled after the French Revolution, the abbey nonetheless preserves remarkable remains that bear witness to its past importance. The church, monastic structures, and the site’s layout still allow visitors to read the long history of the place and its spiritual role in the region.

Listed and recognized for its heritage value, the abbey is the subject of ongoing preservation and interpretation work.
