Introductory Welding and Ironworking Workshop
Métal4h1-2Lyon (Rhône - 69)
Activity details

Special workshops are offered for anyone who wants to get started in metalworking.

The content of these workshops has been designed for people who want to learn the basics of the techniques for amateur use, or who are looking to improve their skills in certain areas.

You will enjoy a special experience with personalized guidance!

The artist’s technique consists of shaping iron by cutting, cold bending, and electrode arc welding.

This process makes it possible to create sculptures or large works such as gates, railings, stair handrails, as well as small decorative objects or furniture.

The finished piece can be polished, painted, patinated, or left raw.

During this discovery workshop for adults, you will:

  • Be introduced to the safe use of the various professional tools,
  • Discover, according to the rules of the trade, the techniques for cutting, drilling, and bending parts,
  • Learn the basics of electrode arc welding.

Please note that this is an introduction to ironworking; in 4 hours, the workshop is designed to give you a very accurate overview of metalwork as a whole.

For a first introduction, the objectives are:

  • To make you aware of the risks of the trade,
  • To provide a clear and relevant theoretical foundation through exercises (cutting/bending/welding),
  • To learn the proper postures and movements that will allow you to practice the technique on your own in the best possible conditions.

For more focused work on welding, it is recommended to choose the longer 12-hour format, where all stages of the technique can be put into practice by making a steel stool.

The price of the 12-hour introductory workshop includes all three half-day sessions.

Your booking lets you schedule only the date of the first session.

Any subsequent session must be arranged directly with the artist.

You leave with a stool cut, bent, and welded by your own hands.

Raw materials and tools are provided.

⚠️ WARNING: this is not a recreational experience.

There is a level of danger to be taken into account at every stage.

Ahtzic places the utmost importance on safety instructions and always begins his classes by explaining to participants the right actions, postures, and safety standards to minimize the risk of accidents as much as possible.

Your attention and active listening are essential to ensure both your safety and his.

As a result, he reserves the right to stop the workshop if these instructions are not respected.

The artist sets minimum and maximum participant ages so that the workshop runs in good conditions.

If you would like to give this workshop to a loved one, please take this information into account and make sure that the person receiving the gift voucher is able to meet the required conditions for this activity.

Steel is a material that must be worked with respect, caution, flexibility, a blend of manual skill and thought, a little patience, and above all your creativity.
