It was through my first profession that I discovered mosaic, now 45 years ago.
Then a yacht captain, I traveled the Aegean Sea, Turkey, and Italy, and during these journeys I had before my eyes — and beneath my fingers — the most beautiful ancient mosaics. I observed them for long periods and the magic happened, as the desire to create my own mosaics gradually took hold.
It was at that time that my first mosaics were created, and many others followed. From 2000 onward, I gradually reduced my periods at sea so that I could devote myself entirely to my passion, and since 2012 I have been working and exhibiting my mosaics at Atelier des Couronnes, in Seillans.

“La Treille”: a unique mosaic plaque signed Christian Tosello, inspired by Provençal trellises. Made using the indirect method, each tessera of glass paste and stone is cut, assembled, and set into a concrete-resin block with stainless steel/polyester reinforcement for total durability. Decorative piece (40 × 27 × 2.5 cm), estimated 100 hours of work. Stable artwork, resistant to weather and frost. Technical details: Technique: indirect method (nipping, framing, concrete-resin casting with stainless steel/polyester reinforcement). Production time: ~100 h. Edition: one-of-a-kind piece.
