I like drawing, and many of my works begin with a sketch. The outline of a cup, the pose of a figure, the expression — I first work on them in pencil. Then comes the material.
In my workshop, the two materials, wood and ceramics, coexist. My work with materials (before that I worked in virtual sculpture) began for me with wood. During a very rich year, I learned the techniques of ornamental sculpture and the principles of bas-relief and sculpture in the round. I love sculpture, and I take inspiration from wood grain patterns, the plasticity of clay, and the world around me: nature, human relationships, and emotions.
I am also passionate about utilitarian objects; I love throwing, and I am always amazed when a ball of clay takes on a beautiful object shape. My current area of interest is the combination of wood and ceramics.
My workshop is small, and I often work in my living room. The workshop is equipped for ceramic work as well as wood carving. I have a ceramic kiln and a potter’s wheel. Throwing clay is fascinating. My greatest passion is sculpture in the round and bas-relief. The practical session takes place in the living room of my house. My workshop is next door.
