Katia welcomes you to the workshop for a creative experience, where you can make a functional object and shape and decorate it with your own hands very easily with Katia’s help. You can shape everyday objects such as bowls, mugs, salad bowls, vases, drainer dishes, candle holders, as well as any other decorative object of your choice.
Katia, +13 years of experience
Potter and Ceramicist
Katia Chiotti was born on March 31, 1977 in Auxerre, in northern Burgundy. After only three years of literary studies at the University of Dijon, she decided to stop everything and change direction after encountering clay through a close friend.
Having only worked in hand-building and never used the potter’s wheel, she enrolled at the CFA of St Victor des Oules in the Gard to complete her CAP through an apprenticeship in a slip-casting workshop.
After obtaining her certificate, she attended other schools such as the National Center for Information and Professional Training in Ceramics in Puisaye, the land of the writer Colette, where she was able to learn the different ceramic decorating techniques.
After that, she joined the 2003 class at the Maison de la Terre in Dieulefit in the Drôme provençale, where she was able to refine her technique, find her style, and learn a few workshop tips during placements with many potters.
My workshop is located at 83 rue de Beausset, in the historic centre of Fréjus, between the town hall and the music school. It is on the first floor of a very old building dating back to the Middle Ages.
