I will guide you through the glassworks, explaining the techniques I use every day to create unique pieces.
You will be able to discover pâte de verre creations, sometimes enhanced with gold leaf or layers of materials and colors, each one telling a different story. Although the furnace is not always lit during the visit, I will explain its essential role and the magic that happens when glass melts under the effect of heat, ready to be blown, shaped, and transformed. This special moment will offer you a glimpse into this age-old craft, where each work is born from a dialogue between fire, material, and imagination.

My name is Arnold Cognet, and I have been an art glassmaker for over thirty years. Trained at the Moulins glass school, I perfected my skills at the Biot glassworks, where I learned the bubbled-glass technique. After fifteen years creating and innovating in this art, I took over the Montauroux Art Glassworks in the Var in 2005.
Today, I continue the ancestral gestures of glass blowing while exploring new techniques such as pâte de verre and gold leaf inlays. My workshop, now an exhibition space, displays more than 300 unique pieces, ranging from functional glassware to lamps inspired by the Gallé style. My work reflects the balance between tradition and innovation, always with the desire to go further in creation.
Located in the heart of Montauroux since 1974, the Art Glassworks opens the doors of its workshop, where glass comes to life under the expert hands of Arnold Cognet, a master glassmaker trained in the traditional Biot bubbled-glass technique.
This history-steeped place has been reinvented over the years by investing in modern technologies, while remaining faithful to the ancestral methods of glass blowing and shaping. Each work is unique, crafted with particular care and made from a subtle blend of glass and oxides. You will discover a wide range of creations, from everyday objects to art pieces, all shaped in respect of a rigorous craft tradition.

J'ai découvert un atelier plein de couleurs et un maître verrier qui maîtrise parfaitement son art. J'ai été très bien accueilli, Arnold et sa compagne m'ont plongé dans leur très beau métier et ont très bien répondu à mes diverses interrogations. Une visite bluffante !
